The Original T-bar Sandal by Pod Heritage Footwear Today magazine July 2017

Following the sell-out success of the re-launched Pod twin-strap sandal earlier this year, Pod Heritage continue with their retro revival for AW17 with plans to introduce limited edition colours to the collection, including bottle green, cardinal red and rich plum.
Originally launched circa 1980 and adopted by fashion’s counter culture as an iconic footwear staple, the T-bar sandal soon became one of Pod’s most recognised designs.
Through meticulous development with creative input from the original designer, the twin-strap sandal preserves its authenticity, incorporating fundamental design details such as the 1977 Jubilee flag, ‘star fall’ vamp punching and distinctive double buckle, complete with retro Podman swingtag.
Beyond its uncomplicated aesthetic appeal, the T-bar achieves a supreme comfort factor as a result of Pod’s unique ‘bag-lasted’ construction method; a Veldtshoen technique that naturally creates increased comfort and supportive moulding through wear.
The re-launch of the T-bar sandal has been driven by strong demand from the veteran Pod followers and original independent retailers such as Scorpio Shoes in Durham and Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Furthermore, the heritage brand are witnessing a new wave of followers from a more contemporary audience with interest from fashion bloggers such as Hannah Rochell from the renowned ‘flat shoe enthusiast’ blog En Brogue.
